Coco Gauff Wins Beijing in Stunning Style to Send Rivals Warning

Coco Gauff saved the best until almost the dying moments of her China final against Karolina Muchova.
But those spectacular moments were worth waiting for – and left us dreaming of watching her at Wimbledon 2025.
The American was already 4-3 ahead in the second – and seemed the likely candidate to take the trophy.
But Muchova reached a fabulous drop-volley to lob Coco for what everyone thought was an impressive comeback winner.
That’s when Gauff scampered back with such incredible speed that she didn’t need to settle for just any kind of return to keep the point alive.
Instead Coco conjured a stunning cross-court pass from way behind the baseline to thrill the crowd.
From that moment there was only one winner. Coco closed out 6-1, 6-3 for her second singles title of the season – and eighth in all.
Coco Gauff is back to her best – and there’s no reason why she can’t win Wimbledon 2025 next summer.
The 2023 US Open champion hadn’t won a title since January. But she has come storming back in remarkable style since parting company with her old coach Brad Gilbert.
She made just eight unforced errors in the Beijing final – and fired twenty-three sparkling winners.
Her only moment of self-doubt came at the start of the second set, when she double-faulted twice and was surprisingly broken.
But Gauff came storming back with a break of her own – and produced more fireworks to clinch the match.
Coco said later: ‘Congratulations Karolina. It’s great to see you back on tour after so many injuries and hopefully you will stay healthy for the rest of your career.
‘Thanks to my team and to my mum who is here. It’s almost like a Slam here and the facilities are great.’
But there’s one real Slam – the most prestigious of them all – that we’d love to see Gauff win.
Coco Gauff will have massive backing at Wimbledon 2025 – and we can’t wait to welcome the American fans to the All England club once more.
