Jack Draper has pulled off a stunning upset by beating the reigning French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz at Queen’s Club.
Now British fans are wondering just what their new number one might achieve in the big one on grass in a few days’ time.
Jack Draper must feel confident he can beat anyone at Wimbledon 2024 after this extraordinary display.
He becomes the first British man to defeat a top-two player since Andy Murray saw off Novak Djokovic in the 2013 Wimbledon final.
And incredibly the win could have been even more emphatic. Alcaraz saved three match points at 2-5 in the second. Jack recovered from 0-30 in the next game to close out 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
This is Jack Draper’s big breakthrough season. He just won his first tour title in Stuttgart – but this win will cause even more people to sit up and take notice.
A cool temperament, a big serve and a sharp all-round game means Draper will pose a huge threat on the Centre Court grass of Wimbledon 2024.
He was still keeping his feet on the ground when he said: ‘It was a really tough match. Carlos is the defending champion. He won Wimbledon. He’s an incredible talent and amazing for the sport.’
But that 13-match Alcaraz winning run on grass has been swept aside by the Brit on the rise.

Alcaraz was still reeling from the blow when he said: ‘I’m not good right now. I feel like I didn’t play or move well. Of course I have to give credit to Jack. I think he played really well today.’
Next up for Jack Draper is the American dangerman Tommy Paul. It will be tough for the Englishman to maintain his psychological edge after the biggest win of his life. But that should be another stunning encounter.
