Taylor Fritz has reached his first Masters quarter-final of the year with a hugely impressive win over Hubert Hurkacz,
The American hot-shot was in fine form to shock the Polish number eight 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. And he has a great chance to progress to the semi-finals.
The Argentine ace Francisco Cerundolo is waiting at the next stage. He is a great player – but remains very beatable for a man of Taylor’s calibre.
The 26-year-old Fritz feels he is adding more and more variety to his game all the time – and that’s great news for Wimbledon fans too,

Let’s not forget he reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals the year before last. He was only edged out by Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller.
Speaking of Nadal, the great man bowed out for the last time at Madrid when he was defeated by Jiri Lehecka 7-5, 6-4.
Rafa said of the tournament: ‘It is very special for me. I have had the opportunity to play again on this court that has given me so much. It has been an unforgettable week.’
Meanwhile Madison Keys lived to fight another day in what has become a wonderful clay-court run for her.
Not only did she beat her friend and compatriot Coco Gauff earlier in the tournament. She went on to knock out the two-time Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur, despite suffering a first-set bagel.
Madison’s fighting spirit was there for all to see in that dramatic 0-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory. But she’ll need even more self-belief to handle Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals.
Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff and Madison Keys should provide fantastic entertainment for American fans at Wimbledon 2024.
