Shelton and Collins were the names on everyone’s lips as the tour prepared to head to Europe.
The Americans are hitting top form in good time for Wimbledon 2024 – and that’s great news for the Championships.
First we have a series of battles on clay. And Ben Shelton has already adapted to that surface.
He beat his compatriot Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to win Houston and climb to a career-high world number fourteen.
And the 21-year-old became the youngest winner of the title since a 19-year-old Andy Roddick took the trophy back in 2002.
Meanwhile Danielle Collins won Charleston by defeating Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1 with yet another emphatic display.
Shelton and Collins will be well worth following at Wimbledon 2024. Can they go deep and get all American fans cheering?
There are so many USA stars to shout about now. And even after beating Frances Tiafoe in Houston, Shelton showed solidarity with his fellow American.
Ben said: ‘Great week Foe. I know this one stings, sorry you didn’t go back-to-back titles, but you’re that type of player who can go back to back.’
Meanwhile Danielle Collins did achieve back-to-back tournament wins after taking Miami before Charleston.
The last player to savour that double delight was the great Serena Williams in 2013.
And Collins would dearly love to taste some of Serena’s success at Wimbledon 2024.
Danielle loves Wimbledon! She met her partner in a coffee shop there after being knocked out in the past.
Now she will play Wimbledon one last time before retiring. And she will want to create more memories.
Shelton and Collins are at opposite ends of their respective careers. But both can reach the business end at Wimbledon 2024!
Will you be at the most prestigious tennis tournament of them all?
Historic and glamorous in equal measure, Wimbledon 2024 will provide drama like nowhere else.
