November 30, 2022
Emma Raducanu has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.
The tennis superstar was awarded her MBE for services to tennis after her US Open triumph inspired the next generation of sporting hopefuls.
She met King Charles for the investiture and looked stunning in an elegant, black silk Dior midi dress.
Emma Raducanu and British royalty will be prominent at Wimbledon 2023 as well!
The British star has a big fan in Catherine, Princess of Wales.
“Kate” even predicted Emma would win Wimbledon 2021 as an unknown teenager!
That tweet might have been tongue-in-cheek. But Raducanu made the second week of The Championships and thrilled the nation that summer.
Even more incredibly, she went straight on to the next Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows and won it!
For that achievement, she received more royal congratulations at the time.
Emma even played a game of tennis with the Princess, who so adores our treasured sport.
You could say that the journey of Emma Raducanu from anonymity to superstardom has always had the royal seal of approval!
It’s certainly true that the royals had heard of her long before most other sports fans knew her name.
That’s why there was something very special about Raducanu meeting Catherine’s father-in-law, King Charles, for the formal ceremony to mark her growing and extraordinarily positive influence on tennis.
The entire, moving story is like a real-life fairy-tale.
Emma said: ‘It’s been great to receive my honour today from His Majesty the King – I feel extremely grateful.’
That simple humility will endear Raducanu to her fans even further.
She has had to deal with the pressures of fame and endure criticism for taking on so many sponsorships.
But why shouldn’t she cash in on her popularity commercially, and enjoy herself as a twenty-year-old?
Here at WDH we have always supported Emma Raducanu. We tipped her for great things when she was an unknown.
And we feel we have a pretty good idea of what makes her tick.
Contrary to some unkind claims, Emma has always continued to put her tennis first, even though her game inevitably suffered temporarily from the pressures of stardom.
Now Raducanu is more worldly-wise and even more determined to let her tennis make fresh statements on her behalf.
Emma Raducanu will surely go deep at Wimbledon 2023 as she continues to develop her stunning talent.
The British public are ready support her enthusiastically on Centre Court. And don’t be surprised to see Catherine, Princess of Wales there too.
Will you join the glamorous throng on Centre Court at Wimbledon in joyous July?
You too can be part of the fairy-tale.
This MBE award and the ceremony at Windsor Castle were so fitting. Emma Raducanu and the royal family have something special going on.
Long may this inspirational rapport continue!
