Andy Murray Rolls Back The Years With Epic Cincinnati Win

August 16, 2022

Andy Murray was understandably emotional as he reflected upon an epic battle with fellow veteran Stan Wawrinka.

The much-loved Brit is in no mood to quit tennis after this victory.

Andy Murray is talking like a man who will do all he can to play Wimbledon 2023.

He doesn’t want that recent, dramatic defeat to John Isner on Centre Court to be his last moment in the Wimbledon limelight.

Murray prefers the winning feeling – and what a boost it was for him to beat fellow-great Wawrinka!

Particularly since it sets up a mouth-watering clash with his compatriot Cameron Norrie next time out.

After nearly three hours of intense sporting combat, Andy was almost in tears at the sheer joy of it all.

He displayed incredible defence, inventive attack and one, final deadly serve down the middle to close out for a 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 7-5 victory.

Then Murray said: ‘We’re not young any more. Matches like this are a lot tougher than they were when we were in our mid-twenties. I hope you guys still enjoy watching us play.

‘The sport has been a huge part of my life. I started playing as a kid because I love it. And it’s taken a lot of effort and struggles to get back to this level. I want to make the most of it while I’m still able to.’

Andy’s voice broke with stifled tears during his post-match interview. And it became clear he will keep playing for as long as he can still land high-profile victories like this one.

That’s great news for Wimbledon 2023 tennis fans who want to see that famous Andy Murray fighting spirit again.

And the brave-heart Scot insists his body is in better shape than it has been for ages, despite superficial problems with cramping.

‘I just need to get on top of that,’ he added, as he prepared to face Cameron Norrie in the next round.

Murray used to have no problem beating Norrie but times have changed.

Cameron has enjoyed an amazing couple of years to become British number one and a star respected throughout the world.

It should be a cracking showdown in Cincinnati – and it will remind us what great shape British tennis is in.

Don’t forget, Emma Raducanu is about to play the legendary Serena Williams too.

Emma Raducanu will only become stronger for Wimbledon 2023.

What a Championships that promises to be next summer.

We’re looking forward to it already.

Can we help you be there?
