Andy Murray Returns Like A World-beater

Andy Murray returns to tennis action at the third Battle of the Brits on Sunday.
And he’s determined to live just like he did when he was world number one.
Murray sees the next eight months as a massive phase in his career.
We have been saying for a while that we think Wimbledon 2021 could be Murray’s last.
Recently Greg Rusedski, another big British favourite, voiced the same thought.
‘Who knows if Wimbledon could be his last event?’ speculated Rusedski.
Murray knows that he must do everything he can to help himself shine while there is still time.
The build-up for 2021 begins at the National Tennis Centre at Roehampton.
The third Battle of the Brits takes place from Sunday December 20 until Wednesday December 23.
Andy’s brother Jamie has once more been instrumental in putting the event together.
Dan Evans will also star, as sixteen men and women play a 30-match league format.
It’s a great warm-up for the Australian Open because the surface at Roehampton will be just like the hard court they use in Melbourne.
Murray is desperate to taste the big-time again. He lost to Stan Wawrinka in the first round of the French Open and was defeated by Fernando Verdasco in Cologne.
Tendonitis was a problem. And that nagging inflammation around the pelvis prevented us from seeing Murray’s very best form.
But Sunday is effectively where Andy’s new season begins on court. A new mentality will bring new life and agility to his body.
Off court, the fight-back has already begun. And that holistic approach will continue all the way to Wimbledon 2021.
Murray has always been a great trainer. But he has let his lifestyle off court, particularly his responsibilities as a loving father and family man, impact on his core fitness.
More emphasis will now be placed on living like the top sportsman he still aims to be.
Andy, 33, explained: ‘I may never get back to being number one in the world, but I want to do everything that I did when I was number one in the world to give myself the best chance to see what I can achieve.
‘I think just in the last two or three months I got on that machine that measures your fat. It wasn’t good.
‘Not in comparison to what I’d done when I was younger. It was something as simple as that.
‘I was like, “Come on Andy you just need to get back.”
‘I’d been working fairly hard, but I could have done much better. I could have been eating healthier and sleeping better. I was like “Come on.”‘
And that is the motivational mentality that will see Murray launch a total push for excellence.
Off-court and on-court, Andy Murray will do everything he can to hit the heights.
The Battle of the Brits will be the first step on the road to Wimbledon 2021 for Andy Murray.
What a wonderful occasion Wimbledon will be. Can you imagine being among the emotional crowd cheering Murray back onto Centre Court?
We can help you be there. And we will be supporting Andy Murray every step of the way towards the Championships.
