How to Get Autographs at Wimbledon
Wimbledon
October 1, 2019
Wimbledon is well underway with some exciting games already being talked about throughout the tennis world. Many people would love nothing more than to have some kind of reminder that they have been in the presence of the greats. Whilst taking photographs is the usual, many people want something a little more personal; the autograph.

Getting an autograph at Wimbledon is difficult, but not impossible. There’s several ways to get one if you have the right combination of luck and timing.
Visiting the Island
‘Autograph Island’, which is between the practice courts, is a popular place to attempt for an autograph. Although it can get extremely busy, this place will house many players at various times throughout the day for interviews and autograph sessions.
Cruising the Practice Courts
The practice courts are also a location where you might be able to catch players as they walk to and from their practice sessions. Again, this is luck of the draw as to who you might see.
However, if you’re attending Wimbledon several times during the tournament, it’s recommended to take a good, hard look at the schedule of play. With so many matches being played on the outer courts, you should be able to catch some players moving from their practice sessions. You could always ask the security and staff on site who is expected on the practice courts later on.
Courtside
In the stadium, it’s much better if you have a seat located near the players’ entrance. Whilst most people will thrust a piece of paper or autograph book towards a player, you might fare better by taking a more unique approach. Andy Murray told of a time where “someone in Australia asked me to sign their forehead.”
Whilst this might be extreme, the best way to stand out of the crowd is to offer the player something to sign that no one else is offering. You might find this attracts their attention and gets you that wanted signature!
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t manage to procure an autograph. It can happen to the best of us. Remember, even Andy Murray once tried to get Andre Agassi’s signature and failed!
For a chance to get that dream autograph and attend one of the best sporting events in the world, why not purchase Wimbledon tickets here.
