Murray Back Before Wimbledon!
Locker Room
March 1, 2018
Andy Murray is understood to be super-positive and ahead of schedule as he recovers from his hip operation.
The three-time Grand Slam winner plans to be back out on a practice court by the end of this month – and perhaps even playing competitive tennis by the end of May.
That’s an incredibly welcome development after his future was called into question when he pulled out of the Australian Open.
FRESH
The operation Murray had while he was still out in Australia seems to have worked wonders and given him a fresh lease of life.
And even if he doesn’t make the French Open, Andy looks set to enjoy plenty of grass court time in the build-up to Wimbledon.
It had been thought that he would play his first meaningful tennis at Queen’s Club, just before Wimbledon. But now it seems that Andy could even play Stuttgart, Surbiton or some other warm-up tournament too.
SHAPE
That’s great news for tennis fans, who want to see their hero in top shape to take a fresh shot at the Wimbledon title.
Many would caution against Murray trying to come back too early. And risk facing a gruelling fortnight at Roland Garros on clay.
That might make the transition to grass that little bit trickier when then time came.
TARGET
But we know that Wimbledon 2018 is what matters most to Murray in terms of a tennis target right now. So he won’t do anything to harm his chances at the big one!
With Roger Federer thinking pretty much the same way, we could be heading for a mouth-watering showdown between Murray and Federer at Wimbledon this year.
Although Federer has twenty Grand Slam titles and Murray only three, something comes over Andy at his home Slam – and he consistently rises to the occasion.
RAPID
He has already won Wimbledon twice. If Murray continues to recover, there is no reason why he shouldn’t believe he could make it a hat-trick.
