Carlos Alcaraz, Emma Raducanu and Coco Gauff on Centre Court!

Wimbledon

June 30, 2024

Carlos Alcaraz will set the standard at Wimbledon 2024 – and very probably leave us gasping in wonder.

The opening day of Wimbledon is always special. But this year the star-studded start to this iconic tournament is like no other.

The spiritual home of world tennis will play host to three of the best loved figures in our beautiful and ever-changing sport.

Carlos Alcaraz kicks off Wimbledon 2024 on Centre Court – and what a sight he will be!

To see the stunning speed and spontaneous power of Alcaraz at close quarters is one of the most extraordinary experiences any sports-lover can have.

Add to that the glamour of Centre Court! It’s the historic arena where British royals and Hollywood superstars so love to be.

Throw in the expectant buzz and stylish fashion. Then there’s the sheer zest for life – something you can feel among the thousands of Centre Court spectators.

Where else in the world would anyone rather be on this first Wimbledon Monday?

And when Alcaraz has begun defending his title against Estonia’s Mark Lajal, we’ll be treated to an emotional moment. The return of British favourite and former US Open winner Emma Raducanu.

Can Emma go deep again? She made the second week even before her incredible US Open win in 2021. And there have been signs she’s returning to her best form.

But she has a tough opener against the 22nd-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova. Raducanu will need all the support she can get from the British contingent at Wimbledon 2024!

Americans may be more interested in their own young superstar on Centre Court on this amazing first day of Wimbledon 2024. We’re talking about the wonderful Coco Gauff!

Many think it’s only a matter of time before Coco thrills Wimbledon by winning her first title here!

It’s a quest which began when Gauff was just fifteen and first showed her extraordinary fighting spirit on Centre Court.

She loves the All England Club – and everyone here loves her too.

But let’s not forget there are other great stages at Wimbledon – and super-skilled players can be seen elsewhere within the club.

Carlos Alcaraz will amaze Centre Court – but Jannik Sinner will doubtless have the same effect on Court One.

The world number one plays Jannik Hanfmann of Germany in the final match on No1 Court on Monday.

Before that the USA’s Aleksandar Kovacevic opens up against Daniil Medvedev.

And the men’s matches are scheduled either side of women’s third seed Aryna Sabalenka, who takes on American Emina Bektas.

What an opening day on the two big show courts!
